Fred Russell is an editor and Managing Partner of Virginia Capital Partners in Richmond, Virginia. Fred has worked at VCP since its inception in 1996. He has nearly 30 years of venture capital and private equity experience. Fred sponsored growth capital investments in more than 40 VCP portfolio companies in a variety of industries including health care, media, communications, consumer and insurance. He was the private equity investor in four companies that subsequently completed an initial public offering (IPO) and has arranged for the sale of nearly 30 venture capital backed portfolio companies with total sales proceeds of more than $2 billion. Andrew Carraway is an editor and Associate with Virginia Capital Partners in Richmond, Virginia. Andrew has worked at VCP in the “off-season” since 2010. “In-season,” Andrew is a right-handed pitcher in the Seattle Mariners organization. During the 2011 season, he pitched for the AA Jackson Generals and was selected to the Southern League All-Star Team. Andrew maintains a blog, The Inside Fastball, to update baseball fans and young players alike on a variety of baseball-related topics: from life as a Minor Leaguer to thoughts on the college recruiting process. As Andrew works his way up to Seattle he works with VCP to keep sharp his McIntire School of Commerce skills that he acquired while an undergraduate at the University of Virginia.
